Purpose of Background Checks:
Sequenom believes that hiring qualified individuals to fill positions contributes to the overall strategic success of the organization. Background checks serve as an important part of the selection process at Sequenom. This type of information is collected as a means of promoting a safe work environment for current and future employees.
Background checks also help Sequenom obtain additional applicant-related information that helps determine the applicant's overall employability, ensuring the protection of the current people, property, and information of the organization.
POLICY:
At Sequenom background checks are conducted on every U.S. job applicant, regardless of the position for which they are applying. This process is conducted to verify the accuracy of the information provided by the applicant. Examples include checks of past employment, education, criminal records, motor vehicle records, job-related accomplishments, etc. Sequenom will ensure that all background checks are conducted in compliance with all federal and state statutes, such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act, as applicable.
Once a decision has been made regarding interest in hiring an applicant an offer will be made contingent upon satisfactory completion of background checks. As part of this process, each prospective employee must complete an authorization form.
RECORDKEEPING:
Sequenom guarantees that all information attained from the background check process will only be used as part of the employment process and kept strictly confidential. Only Human Resources will have access to this information. |
